Packing your space
- Place items on pallets or on blocks to keep items off the floor to help with air circulation and moisture
control - leave a walkway to the rear of unit if possible
- place frequently retrieved items near the front
- place valuables in the rear of the unit
Furniture
- Apply a heavy coat of furniture polish before storing wood items
- Cover with old sheets rather than plastic
- Store couches on end, on a pallet to save floor space
Bicycles, Tools, and Equipment
- Wipe all metal objects with an oily rag before storing to prevent rust
Boxes
- Completely fill all boxes
- Pack heavy items in small boxes
- Seal boxes with masking tape
- Label boxes on top and sides to help identify contents without have to open
